Meet Remmie!
If you know Remmie, you’ve likely felt the light of the Lord shine through her. Though she is eight years old and nonverbal, she speaks deeply to the hearts of everyone she meets. Her presence carries a mystery and depth that words cannot capture.
Just before her second birthday, Remmie was diagnosed with a spontaneous mutation of the ALG13 gene, resulting in an ultra-rare condition called Congenital Disorder of Glycosylation (CDG). At the time, only seven other cases like hers had been reported worldwide. CDG affects her development in many ways: global delays, nonverbal communication, limited motor skills, and drug-resistant epilepsy.
The years that followed Remmie’s diagnosis were met with endless appointments, therapies, testing paired with a looming heaviness of loneliness, weariness, and helplessness. Exhausted of feeling like a tumbleweed being blown by the harsh winds of what felt like an eternal storm, Lyndsey (Remmie’s mom), started to stream worship in their living room to drown out the noise. Phil Wickham’s latest hit (at the time), Battle Belongs entered the scene and shortly after, Lyndsey had a vivid dream of God telling her it was time to “build the army.” That phrase became a calling, an invitation to let others step into the story God is writing through Remmie’s life. Loneliness vanished. Weariness was obliterated by light. Helplessness transformed into hopefulness. Noise turned into music, worship—and this is when Remmie’s healing story began. Root for Remmie isn’t just a fundraiser—it’s a celebration of people standing together and witnessing what the Lord can do through life of a little girl who shines so brightly because of who He made her to be.
Fast forward a couple of years, after another round of searching, the door to NeuroSolutions in Austin swung wide open. For the first time, a care team saw Remmie’s full potential and offered a hopeful plan. Through cutting-edge, noninvasive modalities—infrared light, vagus nerve stimulation, and neuroplasticity tools—they aimed to support healing and provided tools to carry therapy into Remmie’s everyday life at home. This approach has proven to be an answer to prayer and life-changing for Remmie, but not one part of it is covered by insurance.
So, the wild idea to throw a fundraiser came to mind—but make it a party, and invite the whole army to come.
Last year, our first-ever Root for Remmie event raised $58,000—fully funding a year of therapy, home care tools and modalities, EV treatments, and allowed us to bring a local doctor (Dr. Amen in Spring Branch) onto her care team. The outpouring of love reminded us how precious and powerful this community truly is.
This year, we hope to raise $50,000 to continue funding Remmie’s therapies, weekly treatments, in-home respite care, and any tools or equipment recommended by her doctors. Every dollar goes directly to Remmie’s care. Pray for her. Pray for us. Share her story so that He might be made known.
Remmie is deeply loved, fiercely protected, and full of joy. Though her condition brings great challenges, her life is a radiant testimony. Her sisters treat her as one of their own (and are the best care givers to her), and our extended family continues to support us on the family compound (AKA the ranch). Through it all, we believe in a God who provides. A God who still moves and works and heals. Yes, He still does miracles, and oh how we wish Remmie’s healing would be one of them, but even if He doesn’t choose to miraculously heal our daughter this side of heaven, He is still good and we know she will experience full healing in eternity—and that is the beauty of the story He’s writing through Remmie’s life. Join the army and let’s believe big things together.
