July

This month, we’ve intentionally taken July off to pause and pray over next steps for Remmie. Sometimes, pausing can feel like nothing is happening — but often, it’s in those quiet moments that everything starts to unfold. The Lord continues to reveal each step in her journey, and we are learning to trust His timing, even when it requires patience.

We are incredibly thankful to share that Remmie has now gone 11 days seizure-free — a huge blessing for our family. Her longest stretch since November 2025 has been 22 days, so we continue to pray for many more seizure-free days ahead.

In light of this, we have dialed back on her therapies and treatments for the month, trusting the doctors and our own hearts that letting her body rest and self-regulate is the best path right now. All parties agree, and we couldn’t agree more. We have already noticed Remmie being more herself lately, which is such a refreshing and joyful sight.

Remmie continues to achieve big milestones that might seem small to others, but they are monumental in her world. One exciting step: she is now able to self-feed independently while seated in her activity chair, generously gifted to us by the incredible adaptive stroller company, Legero (L-E-G-E-R-O). The chair has an attachable tray where we section her plate, and as long as the food is bite-sized, Remmie picks it up herself and completes entire meals on her own!

We’re still working on utensil control — scooping food is a huge goal — as well as drinking from her straw cup and placing it back on the tray. Admittedly, it can be frustrating when she throws things she can’t control, but we know she’s working so hard. Sometimes, we wonder if her fiery spirit leads her to do it on purpose!

This summer, Remmie is enjoying a well-deserved break from her intensive schedule. She worked so hard in June during her extended school year, with a teacher coming to our home weekly to work on specific goals designed by her OT, speech therapist, and PT. Transitioning from a Monday–Friday classroom setting to home-bound services was a big change, but one we’ve embraced with gratitude.

On a more practical note, this summer Grant and I also took important steps to establish a trust fund for Remmie and finalize our wills. It was a difficult, emotional process to face the realities of caring for our four daughters — especially Remmie — and plan for the future. We won’t share all the details now, but it feels so good to have that box checked.

Thank you for continuing to walk alongside us in this journey. Every prayer, every bit of love and support, means the world.
